According to foreign media reports today, U.S. consumer electronics market revenue is estimated to reach US$ 174.9 billion this year, driven by brand-new products of iPad and Amazon Kindle, etc.
Consumer Electronics Association (CEA for short) forecasted on this Thursday that total revenue of electronics manufacturers in this year will grow by 3% compared to last year, 0.3% higher than the predicated value. The latest estimated revenue is US$ 9 billion higher than the previous anticipated value. By 2011, electronics shipment and revenue will reach a new record high, amounting to US$ 182 billion.
According to Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of CEA, tablet PCs, 3D displays and other new products have received tremendous response from consumers. In addition, smart phones, blue ray players, and electronic readers are also best-selling products.
Steve Koenig, industry analysis manager of CEA, released that CEA decided to raise the predicted values, for the sound development momentum of new products.
“We have seen an increase of market demand in the second half of the quarter and predicted that the following vocation quarter would witness more vigorous development.” Koenig expressed.
By 2011, mobile computing technology is predicated to lead industry development. In the next year, shipment and revenue of mobile computing products including notebook PCs, tablet PCs and laptops (excluding smart phones) are expected to reach US$ 26 billion. Among them, iPad products will develop most vigorously. In the mean time, other companies are forecasted to follow suit. |
