According to foreign media reports, market research company iSuppli stated that global semiconductor sales during June 2010 reached US$ 24.93 billion, having increased by 0.5% compared to May. Global semiconductor sales during the second quarter were US$ 74.8 billion, having risen by 7.1% compared to the first quarter.

Compared with the corresponding period last year, global semiconductor sales during June 2010 have grown by 49%, and global semiconductor sales during the second quarter have risen by 45%. Both global semiconductor sales during June 2009 and the second quarter of 2009 had decreased by approximately 20%, compared with the corresponding period of 2008.

iSuppli raised the predicated value for global semiconductor sales of 2010 for the second time this year. iSuppli now estimates that global semiconductor sales during 2010 will grow by 35%, due to vigorous growth of electronic equipment sales.

This will be the greatest growth rate since 2000. In 2000, global semiconductor sales had risen by 37%.

iSuppli reported that global semiconductor sales during the second quarter of 2010 had increased by 8.2%, compared to US$ 76.4 billion in the first quarter. The highest quarterly growth rate of this year was in the second quarter. Quarterly growth rate of the last two quarters was 6.7% and 0.4% respectively.

In June 2010, America witnessed the most vigorous growth in chip sales, with a monthly increase of 4.3% and a 64% increase over the same period of last year. Semiconductor sales in the Asian-Pacific Region had fallen by 0.5% compared with the previous month, but risen by 51% year-on-year.

Nevertheless, Semiconductor Industry Association forecasted on this Monday that global semiconductor sales during 2010 would go up by about 28% compared with 2009. Global semiconductor sales during the first half year of 2010 have grown by 50% relative to last year.
